> P1i Problems placing call

Hi, this is my first post by I have been reading esato for a long time its an excellent page!
I'm having some issues with placing calls with my P1i. On certain parts of the city (Santiago, Chile) the phone works flawless even when signal strength is weak. Still, there are places (ie. two blocks away from my house) where every other phone I tried has excellent signal strength and can make/recieve calls and the P1i even though it says it has 4/5 bars of signal it cannot place a call at all. Just as an example, I spent 30 minutes trying to place a call with the P1i without success while a W800 placed the call immediately at the entrance of a mall which is considered one of the best reception places in the city. At the same time if I called the P1i in the mall entrance, the phone rang but as soon as soon as as I would touch the screen to answer, the phone hangs. What can I do? Is it a software issue? A hardware issue? Please help. My software versions are:
