Is there a way of making the phone turn on to sound the alarm, every phone i ever had has this function. But im not sure the p990 has. i tryed it the other day but it doesnt turn on
seems strange to take the function away???

nope. SE symbian phones have never had alarm capability when turned off
your best option is to not turn off but to switch to flight mode if you don't want to receive calls but still want alarm functionality

the phone crashes if left on for a day or 2. runs out of memory and crashes, the only thing about this phone its ram sux, i used to leave my phone on overnight a lot but i find it slowed down to much and forced reboots
