I see there are a LOT of videos encoded for PSP or iPod using h.264. Has anyone found a player that can play them on a P1i? I think CorePlayer can, but I'm not sure I can live with the unsigned version and changing backlight settings all the time....

And I'm assuming that if I transcode the PSP videos to another format I'll be losing video quality because of it being a recode of a recode, so if anyone has experience recoding PSP or iPod h.264 to h.263 let me know too....

Thanks in advance,
Ross.

as quite a few other people will aswell tell you to use this application

also use my screenshot example to set the resolution and quality:) (the screenshot is just a guideline:) )

the download links are abit below the screenshot:) in the k850/w910 thread

I'd really rather not recode them if I can find a player that can play them as-is....

But if I had to, are you able to say how long you'd expect it to take to recode a movie from PSP or iPod format?

hmm i hear kdplayer can play movies - but i dont think many formats just 3gp and mp4 (still worth a shot)
BUT if you had to
if a movie (1gb) takes no more 50mins for me to convert(it depends on your pc power)into mp4 format
then a psp/ipod format shouldnt take too long im guessing 20mins or not even..

EDIT:i see your from aussie too;and what phone do you have?
Resolution can matter too (320x240 is becoming standard these days)

I've got the P1i, (nearly) free from Optus when I accidentily fried my old p900 with a dodgy charger. Pretty lucky since I was going to upgrade to a P1i anyway.

I'm surprised that the P1i doesn't play the psp format h.264 encodes. And I'm thinking that a decent player with the right codec should play them, so I just want to find the right player (or a bunch of movies that someone else has already encoded in the right format at a decent quality).
