All,

This is kind of related to the below:

http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=164635&forum=2.

I purchased a new 1GB memory stick. 'Phone status' informs me that I have '949MB free'. Shouldn't this be 1024MB?

I'm aware that some memory is used for 'phone functions' (per the memory stick package); but I'm wondering if this is normal, or if my phone is malfunctioning.

If this is normal, what's using the 75 MB, and why I don’t recall such a big chunk missing from my old - and possibly corrupted - 250MB stick?

I did back up my contacts to the MS, but the amount of free space was 949 MB before and after - it did not change.
This seems like a lot of space that I paid for but cannot use.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated in advance,

Tom

That's normal. Don't worry. The missing megabytes are used for system. Enjoy the phone.

Don't worry about this mate, all flash memory has less storage capacity than that stated on the package, imo 950mb is just about what to expect on a 1gb card so you don't have a problem.

afaik the space is used for system functions and also something to do with formatting the card although it is defiantly normal so don't worry

Thank-you for all your speedy replies.
I didn't expect an answer so quickly!

Time to load this phone up with some Premiership football games (yes, we get those in Hawaii!)

Again, thank you all,
Tom
