I'm having a problem connecting to web on the built-in Opera browser. Everything has been ok for last 3 months, but over weekend/today I simply cannot get browser to display web pages. I keep just getting (after long delay trying) the info message "Could not connect to proxy server".
I am a O2-UK pay monthly customer with "Web bolt-on"; the internet account being used is "O2 Mobileweb"; and as I say, it has been working fine for months... until now!
Also, the same "O2 Mobileweb" account allows me to successfully get my emails and get HandyWeather updates... it's ONLY the bulit-in Opera browser that has the problem!
Called O2 customer services - they re-sent me the account settings, but I still have the same issue - they then said to take phone to shop for sending in for repair! Don't want to have to do this though!
I did try switching off "use Proxy" in the O2 Mobileweb account settings - this seemed to work - but obviously question is why was all ok before/but not know?
Anyone else on O2 having/or had a similar problem with connecting to web pages on "O2 Mobileweb"?
Guess I could do a FW re-flash to see if sorts out before taking back to O2 shop?

this same problem has been affecting me for the last few days.
It's an o2 problem and nothing to do with the phone but the proxy server isn't needed anyway my w810 has been using gprs and opera for the last year without going through a proxy
as already said do into your 3G and GPRS accounts (under more) on the P1 and turn off the use of the proxy server...you'll also find you can now download from youtube as well via GPRS / 3G

Yes... When I got home this evening I checked my old P990i - it worked fine, so checked the "O2 Mobileweb" account on it, and it didn't have proxy set-up. So, I've un-ticked the "use proxy" on my P1i - Opera, email and all web apps working fine now.
Has to be said, O2 Cust Serv is poor - they even checked with tech dept to see if any server issues - but said there wasn't (I even told him that 99% chance it was their proxy IP issue). Anyway, sorted. Guess can check back in week or so to see if the proxy is working again? Guessing only benefit of the proxy is to maybe pre-shrink pages for mobile use?
Surprised O2 hadn't had a load of complaint calls about this?

does anyone have the o2 mobileweb settings? Mine seem to have stopped working and i phoned up o2 to get the settings sent to me, now they seem to have sent me settings called o2 postpay gprs, which doesn't work either.
Also since accepting and updating the settings it seems as if my mobileweb settings got deleted. Not particularly happy at this point to be fair. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
