Has there come up something new on the topic: SMS over GPRS?
My opinion is:
- One SMS costs 1,00 NOK.
- 1,00 NOK in GPRS data equals to 41kb
- You can send MANY SMS's within 41kb!!!
The SP are draining our wallets!! Thats my opinion!
What can we do????

I think Telenor are screwing with us just like you said.
They must be making much more money on us using good old GSM...
But the ting is that i'm not sure any other opperators have it.
Maybe something coming soon? (telenor probebly still wont let us use it)
Let cross our fingers.

Are there any companies allowing SMS over GPRS?
Seems a strange concept really, as SMS uses what was originally a Service Channel, GPRS doesn't.
I guess the phone companies what to make their money off us, and SMS messages make them a lot of money. They want us to use more data services, but they don't want us to stop using the ones that already make them money.

I do this too,..and its for free,..for now.
They havent figured out a way to bill us yet
I only pay for my gprs-account itself, not for the traffic on it.
But it wont last forever.

Had some difficulty formulating this in english... sorry...

I agree with andrew99.
Perran, maybe you can send SMS over GPRS, but the cost is the same (well, at least in my SP).
And yes, Ayreon. Our SP are draining our wallets. Of course!

On the Turkish operator Aria, you can send SMS via GPRS for about 3 cents per SMS...
To compare, the French operator SFR takes 15 cents per SMS!! (and 30 if it's international

! )
