I seen people porting GBA, S60, UIQ2 and all kinds of softwares to UIQ3. But why no engineer bother to port or release Flash Lite for UIQ3?
I find it sad you put engineer's skill to waste. Anyway Flash Lite 3 is already pre released in Adobe website. Who bothers to port it?
Peace.

I know how you feel i've been searching for apps today for my w960 and it appears UIQ3 is really being passed by compared to s60v3. If the camera wasnt so bad on the p910i id switch back as i still have loads of great apps for uiq2.
New apps are coming out all the time for my n95 8gb just got msg tone (cool app) but where is the UIQ3 stuff a new version of S&W msg tones from the p910 wud be great!!!!

Well.. with svg tiny support in uiqv3.2, it might actually be possible (..without spending a year programming a graphics engine from scratch, that most likely would be slow anyway). So I'm (and mark the calendar) hopeful this "problem" will be gone in a relatively short time.

AFAIK, fl3 is being tested on UIQ3.x
regarding apps on UIQ3, the g series debut will take uiq to the mass market, and that will bring more attention to the OS - more apps, IMO

Mm. But then it will be dependent on running program- level code for all the operations. I.e., it'll be something written specifically for just playing back flash- animations - something that would have to be modified heavily and incorporated into whatever other program that might want to use graphics like that in a program.
And if that's all SE is going for - then once again: snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. (That's how many minutes I was hopeful, I guess).

I really don't believe a flash player is difficult to create at all, base on today's engineer's knowledge. Just imagine a simple flash plugin for windows can play flash, I really don't see why is it difficult in UIQ3.
Any player that can play a specified file format is not difficult to create at all. So what's the big deal creating a FLV player for UIQ3, where you already have avi, mpeg, ogg, mkv, mov. If it involves licensing and money-making, I find it sad that there's no 'underground' version of FLV player or plugin available.
Peace.

It's at least not impossible. But again - since the phone isn't running a dedicated engine for just that one application - it can't just disable everything else running on the system - it's dependent on using the basic instruction- set on the chips to make it run stable and quick. And it's probably the case that it's vastly less problematic to port a flash- implementation over on svg tiny 1.2, than it is to program this from scratch (or implement the drawing on the program- level. Which again is a ridiculous concept. It's going over the stream for water).
So it's a matter of priorities most likely, and there are some licensing problems incolved, maybe - but it could've been solved if SE migrated the phones they have over to symbian 9.2 and UIQv3.1/3.2. Or for example backported certain specific functions into UIQ3.
(And I'm not sure there is a flash- player in the works for UIQ3 - the test- build somsone saw ran on the z8, which uses UIQ3.1, and so on.)

well, taken from:

10. When UIQ will support Flash support (Youtube viewing etc). Is it only for future devices? Shouldn’t that be a built-in feature in a modern device?
We can’t answer this question at the moment. Sometimes, you know, the bulk of work tends to be more on the legal side than the engineering side. That’s the modern world.

Hi all,
Well i thought there were rumours of em Tube being worked on to be ported to work on UIQ3 and it really is a great app for You Tube at least it also makes use of the built in accelerometer if there is one for Portrait to Landscape automatic rotation.

I think

just did it themselves...
take a look at the G900 whitepaper:
http://developer.sonyericsson.com/getDocument.do?docId=100325
On page 9 and on 24 again, Flash Lite 3 is explicitly mentioned.
