So I flashed my K800i (R8BA024 with America_1) and ever since the signal icon in the upper left is different now. Instead of just displaying the bars like it did before, it's now inside of a box which is really ugly and bright blue.
Since I am a noob at this, I was wondering if this problem could be fixed if I flashed to a more updated firmware. I've tried using different themes but that does not seem to work.

Not necessarily true. If you go into settings -> connectivity -> data comm -> preferred service -> and set it to "CS only". That will get rid of the blue box the signal bars are in, but you will still be able to browse the internet just fine. It'll save some battery too!
