Which would you get? I was originally looking for a DS then i changed my mind at the last minute...

I'm a huge fan of GTA and can't wait for the 360 release so i thought the PSP version would tide me over... But then i'm still tempted by the DS?

Which would you get and why?

Also anyone got any good links to good deals on either?

I'd go for the PSP also. I have one of each and I find the PSP a lot nicer. You say you're into GTA, which has good graphics and large, semi-realistic cities, graphics and features, etc. Well you're just not going to get that on a DS.

A simple comparison between the two is Burnout Legends. On the PSP, the cars look shiny, realistic, and echo its PS2 variants, while on the DS, you drive a cardboard box which vaguely resembles a car and handles almost as good as a cruise ship. The games on the DS are cut down a lot too.

The DS is, in my opinion, very good for cartoony games such as Mario Cart or Pokemon or similar. Anything which doesn't require a huge load up or huge framerates or good graphics. For example, I own Age Of Empires and Pokemon Diamond and both are excellent games.

But the PSP on the other hand, can do almost anything a PS2 can plus a bit more. The games look crisp and shiny as you'd expect, and the PSP hardware can handle many more complex shapes, etc. I have both the PSP GTAs and they are a lot of fun, and they're very cheap now because they both went Platinum. I'd also recommend Tekken 5 DR (Platinum), Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (Platinum too, I think), Test Drive Unlimited and if you're after something a bit different/crazy/cute, LocoRoco (also Platinum).

With the PSP theres the added bonus of being able to watch movies, play songs, store pictures, download extra games, etc. Plus more functionality is being added all the time. With the DS, you turn it on and you have the option to play your game, chat wirelessly or change your settings lol.

Also, I had trouble connecting my DS to my WiFi... It said that it wasn't possible due to my settings. I had no trouble with my PSP, and I can use my PSP to go on the internet if I want!

Anyway, I'm not saying the DS is shite. Its great for the simpler games and the touch screen is fun to have a play with. The PSP just outshines it in more ways than one. Especially for what you sound like you want!

Yeah its brilliant. Don't expect the detail of your 360 or the amount of cars or anything though. It's more like the PS2 version with no downloadable content, less cars and no motorbikes. But it's still awesome.

Also, the online community for it is dying out now, but offline its still fun
