All,

I've recently started using Total Video Converter for converting video files since M3 became erratic and unstable on my PC.

I read several posts touting Total's conversion quality, some even ranked Total above M3 for quality. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but the MP4 files that Total produces look like 3gp - pixelated and blocky - the 'reporting-live-from-Afghanistan-via-satellite look'.

I followed the advice from a Howardsforum post which said "select Sony cell Phone/MP4 and leave the other settings alone - you'll get perfect video", however, the results are not perfect by a long shot.

If Total is incapable of producing a smooth, M3-style, high quality video conversion, I'm moving on to Direct MPEG4 Maker - according to some posts in here, it's quite good.

If anyone is using Total and has been able to get smooth-playing, fine detail MP4s from it, could you please advise on the settings to use (or please let me know if I'm wasting my time)?

Also, I just noticed that my phone indicates that the file I converted (a 2hr avi football game) is 3 hrs 59 mins and 58 sec long - could this mean I've selected the incorrect settings, causing the loss of quality?

Many thanks in advance,
Tom
