Dear All,

I just bought new P1i after happily using P800 for 5 years. One quick question. Shall I install my software of P800 like unrealplayer into P1i?

Thanks for any enlightenment.

congratulations

unfortunately UIQ2 software is not compatible with UIQ3 and so none of all your software is usable on the P1

Hi STS,
I've also just jumped from 4 years of P800 to P1i as a valentine's day present from my wife.

Absolutely loved it after flashing to the latest firmware.

It's sad and silly but I have an emotional connection with materials and especially electronic devices (still have various Commodores and Amigas).

Because of that reason, I'm very sad about my abandoned P800, because it's still rock-solid, goes about 5 days & nights minimum (with the help of SMan). Had the holders of flip broken but had fixed them with a super-glue.

Anyway, in my opinion P1i is a great phone and a familiar experience for handwriting recognition.

You're going to beat that on the p1.

(I think there are two ways to hang it for certain now. One is to push the "task manager" line while in landscape mode on quick- office. And the other is to hit the back- button while in landscape- mode in opera, exactly when you're about to open a new connection, it seems, except it doesn't happen always. And I haven't seen it on the last firmware. Other than that, I'm not sure restarts are very common. I used to have some while using an old version of x-plore for some reason. And I managed to hang an application that took over the active view a couple of times. So I had to reboot. But that's it. And I have a bunch of programs running constantly, edited the resource- files, new fonts, my own theme, and so on. So it's stable..)

Thanks all for your responses. I have received my new toy as my brithday gift on Feb 16 and since then, playing around, installing a lot of trial softwares. Tomorrow plan to upgrade to the new firmware, if any.

I was one of the first users of P800 and it is wonderful phone, still one of the best. I dropped couple of times and it was perfectly fine until in Jan 2008 where its LCD cracked . Otherwise, I would have waited P5i which has far bigger screen since I do not much use that keyboard.

Anyway, P1i is great as well though I have not noticed much better expected speed and now trying to figure out how to use it more efficiently . Have not figured out yet how to increase auto lock duration, how to listen forward/rewind songs in the playlist using one hand...

And here I was thinking I was the only one who made this huge jump.Happily used my P800 for about 4years and it served me very well.Really loved that phone man.Rock solid, stable,Then l decided it was time to let go,jumped to P1 Two months ago,my wife continues to use the P1 even though she lost the stylus 2 weeks after I gave it to her.I'm glad l got the P1 though.
