What is the 'feel' of the camera button while pushing it in? Is it the same as the volume buttons above it... kind of 'hard' and resistant or does it push down freely if you toch either side? I'm not sure if i broke this button and dont remember how it was

Same here. The camera button is not as firm as the volume buttons.
But so far it hasn't give me any problem.

I think I know why SE made that particular button in such manner.
It has to be slight soft to the touch because when you press and hold gently, the camera can auto focus, before you press fully to take the picture.
If the button is as firm as the volume button, don't think it will be easy to lock the lens to focus.
