Can anyone tell me if anyone has used it what 3UKs USB modem broadband service on pay as you go is like. I am getting a laptop soon and really want to use this to browse as i dont want a contract and wanna take it anywhere. And how can i find out if their turbo network will work where i live. Is their turbo network seperate from the mobile network. Not sure how it works. Is it via wifi. Answers please. Thanks a million.

Their 'turbo' network is in places where they have upgraded to 3.5g - HSDPA. There should be a section on their website where you put your postcode in and it will tell you whether you have a 3g or 3.5g network (umts/hsdpa). If you live in a bigger town/city like London, Southampton, Oxford, Manchester etc..you're more likely to have it. Unlike their 3g network they're not going to be rolling out 3.5g ('turbo') to everyone, everywhere.
I haven't personally tried it, but the monthly cost is the same on pay-as-you-go as it is on contract just you have to buy the usb modem first (it's half price if you're a student if I remember right?).
Hope this helps a bit.

FYI some more information for you, The Guardian,
http://www.guardian.co.uk/mon[....]band?gusrc=rss&feed=technology
Just before Christmas, 3 and T-Mobile announced they were merging their networks to improve mobile internet coverage - and to up the speed. By the end of 2009 they plan to have 13,000 sites, covering 98% of the population with a mobile broadband network capable of speeds up to 7.2 Mb per second - or nearly twice the current typical home broadband speeds - and nearly 20 times faster than existing 3G services.
T-Mobile's 3G network now covers about 85% of the UK, while 3 covers about 90%. The geographic gaps will be plugged by the joint venture.
