Hello all from Esato!

I rarely write here, but I am about to retire my good-old W800i and it is time to check on new hotties. I put my eye on the G900i, since it has Wifi, which I dairly need due to my job.

However, I read the whitepaper from developer.sonyericsson.com and it says that it shapes with UIQ 3.0, whereas in uiq.com I saw that UIQ 3.2 brings many visual improvements (even UIQ 3.1 brings notorius changes over 3.0).

By watching the videos from Barcelona 3GSM, I saw that G900i's UI is much more improved from previous phones, so does anybody know if they are actually using a more modern UIQ version like 3.1 or 3.2, instead of 3.0 as stated in the whitepaper?

Thank you in advance.

checkout the P1i it also has a bigger battery which will be essential if using wifi a lot. UIQ3.1 the P1i uses.

Thank you for your answer.

Anyway, I checked the white paper of P1i and it clearly says UIQ 3.0 Symbian 9.1. Besides, the keypad is quite difficult to get used to.

But I will check it out, thank you.

You should post MORE - com'on express yourself!!

I also thought the P1's keypay would be a bit awkward, but it's a lot easier than it looks, you just have to treat it like a normal qwerty keyboard, and anyway there's always the handwriting option.

welcome!

however, its not true that uiq 3.1 or even 3.2 have much changes over SE version of UIQ3...

the g series uses plain uiq3.0 with a new "shell"

is it possible, when the G900 comes out that they could update the P1i with this new "shell"?

It's possible, and rumour has that they may actually do this, but I'm somewhat skeptical due to SE's historicaly bad support for past devices eg. P990i.

On The other hand, the P1 is a much better device platform wise, so they might take a more enlightened attitude.......
