"A Sony Ericsson patent reveals how the company intends to use projectors inside cellphones. According to the patent, when the projector beams the desired image on to a surface, the onboard camera will take an image of the projected image to analyse if any adjustments are to be made. If required, the projector application will change the intensity of the projector to project the ideal image. Now, if the patent could have revealed when we’ll see a phone with an inbuilt projector…"

this means they'll build the projection chip next to the cam.
when you want to project a movie or something, it would be much better if you can put down your phone, or unless you has a sort of desk stand.
