hey there. i'm new to all this upgrading stuff. did it to my old w850i but didn't really notice much difference. i just got a k850i 2 weeks ago and the first few photos i took were black. the software version is r1ca029. i connected it to the se upgrade software expecting it to upgrade but it said my software is upto date. why would it say that. is it because of where i am? i'm in australia by the way. any help or ideas would be appreciated.

New Firmware is R1EA031. You can flash with that.

try uninstalling the old SEUS Program and download the installation file again from Sony Ericsson's Site. it worked for me.

Your phone may have a branded FW if that is the case then your operator has to aprove the new FW before you can upgrade thru SEUS. If you don't feel like waiting then you can use DAVINCI to flash your phone with an unbranded FW and then update thru SEUS.

Pics turn out dark if your fingers are on the cam side of the phone-i practically burst out laughing when the shopkeeper told me this, but there's a card in the box that says the same.
PS-this happens even with the latest firmware. The only work around is to hold the phone by its edges when takin pics

You've probably got firmware that's been branded by your operator. New firmware has to be approved (read customised) before it's released. You can unbrand your phone with something like DaVinci and change the CDA so the SEUS will see your phone as generic.

Or try www.kulankendi.com . The cheapest solution. Very reliable. Tried it myself with a success.
