well i like the new keypad in general but i can not, for the love of me, understand why they decided to ditch the underscore character on the qwerty keypad?!
i mean surely it used a LOT especially when surfing the net (inputing email adresses and stuff), so why oh why did they decide to ditch it? i found using the p990i's qwerty keypad far better. I kinda liked the full seperate keys rather than dual keys tbh.
and also why is there such a stupid handwriting recognition symbol for the underscore?! it makes no sense! i mean a verticle line form the bottom, then a horizontal line with a dot at the end of it (sidewys "i"), making some wierd deformed "+", i mean surely there are far easier symbols to associate to it.
Bah! sorry rant over, but i just find it soooo frustrating >:(

Maybe you'll get more replies in the
Symbian phones forum. Perhaps a mod can move this thread.

Prolly, because I actually like it a lot. Then again my previous P-series was a P900; the P1 is my first phone with QWERTY.
I can imagine though, that people with bigger fingers than me (mine are thin) will have some problems when it comes to typing away on the keyboard.
As for the handwriting, there's a system to it: the up-stroke means you're gonna write a "special" character. The "-." indicates that the special char. is a "_", while the "-" indicates it's a... well.. "-" obviously. So an underscore doesn't have to look like a "+.", but can look like a "|-." as well.
