I'm thinking of going for a P1. Whilst the keyboard is going to be strange, I don't see why anyone couldn't get used to it. After all, if you do something every day, it becomes normality.

Nobody's mentioned that the P1 has triple the ram of the 990, also the later was notoriously unstable and SE have discontinued firmware updates for it.

For me, going from the p990 to the P1, the differences were as night to day....

The form factor/input control does take a little getting used to, but if we never steped outside of our comfort zone and tried anything new, I'd be typing this on a typewriter!!

I used to love my P990, but after having a P1 there is no way I would go back.

I will admit that I prefer the normal text input of the P990, but everyone else is right, you do get used to the P1. And have double the RAM (P990 had 64mb, the P1 has 128mb), it's a lot faster and a lot more stable!

In my opinion, the P1 looks nicer too!

I have P990, and I never will "upgrade" (if we call it an upgrade..) to P1... sure P1 have more ram, but I hate design and keyboard...
IMHO, obviously
