The Most Effective Way to Create the Audio Book For iPod
Due to the capacity of vast storage for iPod player, it has become the best tool for listening to audio books or other audio books. However, the lack of basic function: bookmark, makes the large number of fans feel inconvenient. In fact, iPod possesses "audio books" function itself, and not only can remember the heard location last time, but also can adjust the speed for playback. But Unfortunately, Apple Company takes the attitude of closed standards to "audio books", under which, only protected AAC files (m4b suffix) are able to become an audio book. There is no impact for legitimate users. However, if you want to create audio books of your own from, it will cause the relatively trouble.
As a lover for the audio books, I repeat testing and research and summed up a set of ultimate way. Hope that the majority of iPod lovers can share it.
First, I introduce my route of ideas.
1. Merge the MP3 format files by winrar.
2. Create the merged and single file into AAC files via iTunes.
3. Change AAC files ending with m4a suffix manually into files ending with m4b suffix. And then import them into iPod.
This is mainly based on the following reasons:
1. The single document facilitates recording bookmarks. Regardless of where to hear, as long as it accesses to this single document, it can remember the last place more conveniently. Otherwise, even with memory function, facing 200 documents, I can not know where to mark.
2. The single document makes it easy to edit the suffix manually, and not need specialized software any more.
3. Making the single document by means of winrar is just the operation for storage without re-encoding process. Its speed is much higher than that of coding software such as lame mp3.
Below, I will introduce the entire production process.
1. Select wanted file and use “add to the files”.
2. In terms of compression way, please choose “Save”.
3. Due to the importance of the audio book order, even though your files are in the order of installation, winrar will still disrupt them. So you have to adjust the order of the documents manually and shear out the file name using ctrl + x.
4. Put the files into tablet in order, and then copy back. Its order will not be that messy and generally divided into two parts. At last, turn them around.
5. Change the suffix rar into mp3 then you will get a single file ending with mp3. The content is the same as the original one. You can listen to it directly or decompose to back for listening.
6. Now, you can import the file ending with mp3 into your iTunes.
7. Choose the suitable ACC bit rate according to your mp3 bit rate. On my experience, the general “stereo” and 32 k is enough while the new version of iTunes can also choose “optimize voice”.
8. Convert the file ending with mp3 to files ending with AAC. As a result of the large volume and a set of audio book, it requires more time.
9. Modify the obtained file ending with M4A into the file ending with M4B manually.
10. Until here, you have a very convenient audio book; it is OK after importing the file into your favorite iPod.
Finally, remind everyone that because of the encoder itself for iTunes, if you handle too long file, there will be the problem that it loses part content. So I suggest to control as much as possible in each file within 20 hours.
