"The new phone offers a CSTN display with a resolution of 128×128 pixels and 65,000 colors, an advanced speakerphone and a Hinglish SMS function that allows users to type messages fast and easy, thanks to the both English and Hindi word recognition. Moreover, Samsung Guru100 comes with MP3 ringtones and the ability to download other ringtones and songs. Plus, it includes two popular Bollywood hits, set as ringtones by default.

Samsung Guru100 can store up to 500 phonebook entries and has a mobile tracker function that enables users to track the phone in case it's lost or stolen. Other features of the new Samsung include handsfree, Java games, v card, v calendar, PC studio, alarm and calculator. The phone's battery is a Li-ion 1000 mAh one that can provide a talk-time of up to 9 hours with a single charge.

"The launch of Guru 100 is a manifestation of our commitment to providing leading technology Samsung mobiles with their superior design and features for every segment of the market," said Sunil Dutt, Country Head, Samsung Telecommunications India.

Samsung Guru100 is available across India for a retail price of Rs 1949 (49 USD or 33 Euros).

Currently, there are more than 200 million mobile users in India, which means less than 20% of its population, so in the next years the number of mobile subscribers is expected to grow quickly. Samsung (as well as all the other important handset manufacturers) is aware that affordable phones account for an important share of the global market, and emerging markets like the Indian one definitely need phones like this. That's why the South Korean company will continue to offer entry-level devices, answering the needs of users who don't want or can't afford expensive handsets."

Samsungs cheapest handset is a C300 it cost from £15 so its good to see bring out a low end range, they've always be an expensive manufacturer so good on them for bringin this one out. India's a large region so im sure they will be queing up for it
