as some of you know i had a k850i unbranded and was very happy with it. I loved the camera, the UI and everything about it. only tiny little issue was the back lights behind the keypad that acted up only 10% of the times which was no biggy. I decided to send the phone for repair to the repair center. For those who did not know i live in Canada/Toronto.
I was asked to ship the phone to them and I did just that using Canada Post Xpressmail (feb 5th). I was provided with a tracking number on the receipt and told that by the next day (feb 6th) they should receive my phone. I checked the website the next day and it showed it as received and there was a signature too.
So you would think your phone would be in the safe hands of the repair center right? well thats where i was wrong. I received an email a week later explaining how i should send my phone and what should be included in the bubble wrap box and all that which i already knew and DID a week ago. There was also a link to a site where i was able to check the status on my phone. I went to the site, and it showed as PENDING..
So i called sony ericsson and they said not to worry about the site because its buggy, and my k850 takes a while to repair because they need to order parts, so i said fine.
I called them again 3 days ago and they said it would take another 2 weeks to order a certain part. This is when i thought that things were sounding fishy... I asked her to check if my phone has even been worked on and that what part they need to order..... she checks the computer and tells me 'umm, when did you ship your phone? it looks like we dont even have your phone in our system and repair center' !!!!!
I was like wtf?? how dare you tell me your waiting for parts when you dont even know if my phone is in the repair center. I ended up loosing my cool and she asked me to provide her with my tracking number which i didn't have anymore after 3 weeks!!
So now its just a matter of me proving to them that my phone was received by their shop or i can't get anything.
I am soo upset over this because while my phone was gone the new firmware was released and there is no way i can find my tracking number. Ive tried going to Canada Post and they said its impossible to retrieving it.
I need another phone right now and i would buy the k850i AGAIN if I didn't have this experience with their customer care and repair center.
The k850 had everything i needed. Now Im considering getting the n95-3. Its very sad to be treated like this and they just lost a royal customer who might turn to nokia.
I wish the n95-3 had a longer battery life and a xenon flash. It would have been perfect.
Sorry for the long post, i just thought maybe someone can help me in this situation.
Thanks

mayb u can ask for the relevant authority to track this..
and i tink tat its quite a serious matter to jus disappear half way. could be someone greedy n take your phone. better to do something about it as they could jus continue to do this to others.

i really dont know where to start with that, maybe take them to the small claims court? Come to think of it now, i spent $580 dollars on that phone, its not a small amount, and i shouldn't just give up and get another phone.
any tips?

Sorry to hear for your loss. Customer Service Centers usually give generic answers, nothing surprising about that. Mate, you've lost the tracking No., it doesn't help you at all. But you do have proof of purchase and your IMEI, so you should pay a visit to the police dept. and ask for an advice.

I had the keypad light problem and had it repaired. Took nearly a month!
phones4U said it would be 7 days.
Better late than never I suppose.

Can't you retrieve the tracking number in your pc's browser history ?
I'm asking this, because the url of the tracktrace-site in NL shows the tracking number at the end.

@n4d3r; I feel your pain! I too live in Toronto (west end by Dundas W. & Bloor area).
Tips ... if you're on Rogers you can request an upgrade to the K850i (No branding currently - I just ordered by upgrade + 3yr term for 199+$35 processing fee. I get $100 credit on my Rogers acct EVEN if I return it, it STAYS, and with Rogers Vision $25 Comm pkg I get VOD, ROD video/radio on demand, and unlimited surfing on the phone - less tethering). Sorry if that sounds like a sales agent thing; not intended. I'm sure you're already aware of this since I think I see you on HoFo.
tips2 ... did you have the shipment Insured? If so then CASH that in!!!! Get SE to email your or send you a letter or FAX stating that you're converstation date & the date of your calls (ALL LOGGED) show that the K850i did not arrive. Print off info from Purolator/brown that it STILL pending! Confirm ALSO what the standard is if the address is non-deliverable (in case the address was wrong what does the shipping company do? Send it back to you do you STILL have to SIGN for it?). Then make you're claim.
* USUALLY ALL shipping company's have the driver digitally sign something that the package ARRIVED at its destination! If the shipping company can provide this .... THEN you have LEGAL cause for a lawsuit for small claims court. This would be in you're favour because; not only will it provide you with a new K850i but SE will be POISED to make sure all your future repairs and interests are taking care of IMMEDIATELY and EFFICIENTLY & Properly! If you win that is. I have no doubt you will with the above information.
Honestly though I pray you don't have to waste more funds to do a small claims court and that magically your phone is in their system on site (not just in another department by mistake).
Sony Ericsson even repaired my 1yr old Ericsson T39m when I sent that in repair some 4yrs ago - totally had me stocked. I'm loyal to SE because they've EARNED it EVEN with current K850i non-branded issues (funny for the first time the BRANDED SE phones are fairing better with this model, hehe).
Keep us updated mate.!!!
Heck I may even "consider" giving you my K790a if my K850i arrives by Friday next week! Just note if you get the N95-3 ... to use WiFi (if you don't have the grandfathered Fido $50Unlimited option - as they use IMEI network based checking for branded phones; same as Rogers Wireless.)
