Hi.

I've been very clumsy and hit my phone on the table. There's a very little scratch on the top right corder and near P1i logo by the keypad. Is there a way to restore the brushed aluminum finish of the phone? Or where can I get a new OEM housing for the P1i?

Thanks

It's aluminum. I believe not. Try talking with a blacksmith!?

It's not aluminum. I saw a P1i in the store, with the finish stripped off. It's white plastic underneath.

We are talking about the front of the phone, not the back.
It's aluminum all right, I have deep bump on mine from a fall in the concrete.

Metallic paint? Maybe matt silver hammerite/car paint or something? It depends on how much of an artist you are, but having tried such things with past phones, I think it'll never look quite right, and it's a question of what level of imperfection you're prepared to live with.

I've never tried changing the chassis of a P1, but my old p910 had several incarnations - takes a steady hand, a good memory for where everything goes, and a LOT of patience. The first time I changed the case it took me several hours, as I was scared of breaking something!!

ahem, LAU are U sure it is Aluminum? Because I am pretty sure that the phone I saw had the front faceplate stripped down on the corners, and it was whiteish plastic underneath. The front faceplate and the back faceplate look different on the P1i, that's for sure...

However, if you are sure that it's aluminum, you can try and recreate the "lines" or the brushed finish using a sandpaper, my guess is ~1200 grit, and sandblasting to recreate the "frost" finish on the edges, but I'm not sure If I'd do that to MY P1i

It's definitely metallized plastic. A sort of grey/white colour underneath a spray on paint.

I dropped mine and it cracked. I was very disappointed to note the plastic!

You can get housings from ebay but they're dire and I wouldn't recommend them.

plastic? wow, i thought it was metal.... so refinishing it is out of the questions then....only alternatives are to replace the housing or live with the scratches

anyone know where i can get a new oem housing then?

thanks guys!

So some P1i cases come in plastic and others in aluminum.
