Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, and I've had a quick look around to see if my question has been addressed already. I couldn't find anything, but please accept my apologies if it has already been answered elsewhere.
Right... Here's the problem. I have a P1i on O2 in the UK. My default Internet group is O2 Mobileweb, and I have removed the proxy setting from the O2 Mobileweb connection, as advised elsewhere. When I try to access web pages via this configuration, it works as expected.
I also have a couple of wi-fi connections. I would like the phone to try these first whenever they are in range. One is the default wi-fi connection, which I was using to connect via a public hot-spot, and the other is a private connection which I have set up manually. Both of these wi-fi connections seem to work properly in their own right when they are in range.
I have tried adding the default wi-fi connection and the private one respectively to the O2 Mobileweb group, both with a higher priority than the O2 Mobileweb connection itself, but when I am out of range of the wi-fi connections, it doesn't seem to be falling back properly onto the O2 Mobileweb connection. When I try to access web pages, it looks like it is trying to load, but it just seems to get stuck. This seems to happen regardless of whether I have wi-fi enabled or disabled on the handset. To resolve this, I have to remove the wi-fi connections from the O2 Mobileweb group and restart the phone.
I would be very grateful for any help and expertise you can offer.
Thanks.

so what basically is the prob, if you have the priorities set up things should work well.

The problem is that when I am not within range of the wi-fi connections, it seems to get stuck and do nothing. I would expect it to load the page via GPRS/3G having failed to establish a wi-fi connection.
The priorities are correct as far as I can tell (1 = default wi-fi; 2 = private wi-fi; 3 = O2 Mobileweb).
Thanks.

I had the same problem before, I think this priority thing doesn't work as expected, you can try two things:
1. "Close" the web application from the "task manager" and open it again when you are not in the wifi range, it should pick up the 3G now.
2. If this doesn't work, try to create another group, say WiFi, put the wifi connection in it, and keep the GPRS in the internet default one, now make sure that you click on "show connection dialog" check box so whenever you open web "for the first time, or after a while of non activity on it" it will ask you which group do you want to use, if you are in the wifi range, then chose it, and it will not ask you again after that unless you close the application or have a long time of non activity, or you can chose the Internet group of you are not in the range of wifi.
I use step two, and here is my setup:
Group: Internet --> Account: main gprs account
Group: Streaming --> Account: streaming gprs account for Mobile TV
Group: WAP --> Account: same as the main gprs but with proxy to access the telco's wap sites.
Group: WLAN --> Account: any wifi, in my case, only home.
now there are programs like worldmate or email that you do not want to get bothered every time they auto update, so they have the preferred group option in them and you choose which one they should access automatically without prompting.
I hope this helps.
