I dont know if this has already been explained here at Esato,
did a quick search and didnt find but if its old news feel free to delete the thread.
This is how you change your operator key, what program it opens.
By default it is the phones internet browser, atleast on my unbranded phone.
These files and guide is mainly for K800, i think they should work for K810 too but i have not tried.

The operator_key_hook.itm i have uploaded here opens MobyExplorer but you can change that very easy, ill explain how its done further down.

Upload operator_key_hook.itm and customize_upgrade.xml to "tpa/preset/custom".
And restart your phone, you may have to do a master reset but i didnt have to.

Now, if you want the key to open some other program this is how you do, you have to edit the operator_key_hook.itm:

Windows users download Tugzip and extract operator_key_hook.xml from operator_key_hook.itm.
And open operator_key_hook.xml with a doc viewer (notepad) and change the following lines to some other program:
Code:
<ACTION type="JAVA" suite_name="MobyExplorer" suite_vendor="Bermin Software" entry_point="ftpmid.FtpMid" />

Then save and compress operator_key_hook.xml to operator_key_hook.tar - and then just rename the .tar file to operator_key_hook.itm
And then just upload customize_upgrade.xml and the .itm file to the folder i wrote in the beginning.

And if you want to go back to default, just delete operator_key_hook.itm.

customize_upgrade.xml http://www.4shared.com/file/3[....]d6e5c57/customize_upgrade.html
operator_key_hook.itm (MobyExplorer by default) http://www.4shared.com/file/3[....]4670ded/OPERATOR_KEY_HOOK.html

there are patches that allow you to change the operator key on the k800 r1bf (or whatever the latest firmware for the k800 is) and also for k810 r8ba

hi there!

i got a question... since a JAVA app is replaced on our internet key shortcut button...

i guess this will also work with any other JAVA app installed in the phone.. am i right?!

if so, then this brings me to my next question... how can i extract the vendor name and other lines needed to program my JAVA app on the internet key...

TIA

I just open the JAD file of the program in Wordpad or Notepad to extract the information. You can also unpack the JAR file with WinRAR and open the MANIFEST.MF file for the same information.

Look for MIDlet-Name:, MIDlet-Vendor:, and MIDlet-1:

Example on MobyExplorer

MIDlet-Name: MobyExplorer
MIDlet-Vendor: Bermin Software
MIDlet-1: MobyExplorer,/folder_html.png,ftpmid.FtpMid

For entry_point= use whatever is after the last comma in MIDlet-1

Is there a trick that could disable keypad locking for this key ?
I have a k770, and the only key I am really missing from my old k750 is the "play/pause" key on the left of the phone.
If I could assign this function to the "operator" key, and better if this worked even when the keypad is locked, it would be really great !
