> N95 8GB Some questions after S/W update
Bookmark topic
Hi Guys and Gals
I just got a N95 8GB Nokia and wow, it's, shall we say loaded to the brim with stuff. I got mainly based on using as a phone (DER

) and MP3 player and average to good digital camera without the need to carry extra devices. A mobile, wallet, car key and house keys is more than enough.
I stupidly i now know updated the phone to the latest S/W via the CD-ROM programs. Only then did I go on the hut for themes et al. To find that none will install, after a google search found that Nokia have done a MS Vista as everything must be signed. Is this correct? Can I get round it? (I did read the post about the firmware hackers are busy on this one maybe any news?) Can I put the old firmware on? Are there any sites that have signed themes? Would seem since Nokia has taken away people’s choice then they should at least have something waiting in the wings? I also read the things about signing up as a developer which is now closed, to circumvent the copy protection unless you want to pony up £200.
So generally what to do?

this has nothing to do with installing the new firmware... its the same on all nokia's running symbian OS9
you can sign the apps yourself just google 'signsis' and download that app and that will allow u to sign your own.

@Euromancer
I'm not sure what you mean by upgrading via CD-Roms and signing Themes is not necessary but there are two things to try, the first is go to App Manager select Options Software Installation set to all, also set Online Certificate check to off.
The other thing you may need to do to install a themes is as certificates only used to last 1 year they now last 3 years for newer ones. So it may of expired so just set the date back 6-12 months when you want to install the theme and then set it back to the correct date after.
Yes Apps do now need to be signed but that improves the security of the whole system and is the same for all Symbian 9.1 devcies onward so it is actually Symbian that have implemented this increased security not Nokia, SE or any other manufacturer that uses Symbian.
