> Ambient noise during music-How to tackle it?

As new SE phones these days have very low volume thru headphones,So one thing i feel irritating is the annoying ambient noise which disturbs the listening experience.
So the questions is how to block ambient noise.Or how successful have u been in blocking ambient noise in ur efforts.And does having a noise cancelling headphones does the job well of blocking the noise?
