Hi all, I recently acquired a used SE K800i from ebay, and all seems to be fine but I have few questions to ask (some of which are very petty lol)

Firstly, why do some of my text alert sounds, even the default ones, seem to cut off about 3/4 of the way through? This didn't happen on my k750i.

Also when I first got the phone it had just had a master reset so had all the original settings. I had a blue icon in my "task bar" at the top next to the signal bar. I was also experiencing a low signal reception (according to the bars) so i went into network settings and changed it from "3G and GSM" to just "GSM" and the signal now seems full strength - but when I try and put it back onto "3G and GSM" it will not work and defaults back to just "GSM" - my question is, what was that blue icon at the top?

Also (petty question alert!) I'm in the process of transferring all my stuff across from my K750i phone to the K800i. I'm the sort of person that likes my stats and my K750I reads that I have sent over 5700 texts since I had it! Is there any way I can transfer this sort of information? Also can I transfer my notes, as I have a lot of them.

Any info on all or any of these would be appreciated!

Cheers

text alert sounds:
I'm not sure, but I think there is a built-in time limit for the length of the sounds, and maybe this is shorter in K800 than in your previous phone.

The blue icon indicates that you have 3G (UMTS) available. If you selected "3G and GSM" the phone will automatically select which to use depending on signal quality. It it possible that you were located at a place where the signal strength for 3G was just on the edge. If you try a new operator search you might get the 3G mode activated again.

I do not know for sure about how to transfer saved notes and messages, and the statistics counter, I think for sure that it is locked to the phone and cannot be transfered. You should try one of those 3:rfd party phone synch tools, there are many of the mto choose from, like float's mobile agent, for example. Also, try one of those online sync services, I use ZYB (http://zyb.com/) to syncronize my address book, calendar and also saved messages.

im pretty sure you can export your notes using the sony suite software... i was able to export a few notes and then reimport them when i switched from a k750i --> k800i

as for the counter, its a thing that is locked to your phone

Back to this subject of the K800i, I was just wondering if anyone knows how to turn off that bloody annoying internet button on the left side of the phone between the function button and the back button? It tends to go onto WAP using my credit when my phone is in my pocket...yes I know I could lock it, but this seems to be the only button that presses when in my pocket! Can I disable it?

Cheers

You can't turn it of for disable it, unless you are willing to attack the phone with a soldering iron and other tools, but you can remap it to access something else than an internet address. Some peolpe change the address to a mailto: which effectively opens the "new email" dialog. I have created a smal HTML page which I have stored in the Webpages folder in the M2 memory, and changed the address of the button tyo open that page instead. Go to the Communications settings menu, select internet settings, then profiles, advanced, select your current profile and press more, select change startpage and enter the new address. For a file on the memory stick, the address will start with "file:///card/". In my particular case, when I created a subfolder in the webpages folder which I called "Startpage" and the HTML file is named index.html, the address is: file:///card/webpage/Startpage/index.html
An alternative is to open the file in the web browser by entering the address as described above, and then select the "use as startpage" command.

There are several other threads about this in here, if you do a search.
