> Annoying house mates?

got myself in a bit of a dilemma and can't decide on the most appropriate action.
Basically, I live with someone who doesn't go to bed till about 4/5 am most night, (nor do I some nights). Now sometimes he has lots of people in his room and it can keep me awake for ages, or he could be making allot of noise some way or another, most times it doesn't bother me, only sometimes. Anyway, this guy is now banging on my wall when I start playing guitar gently in the morning, or playing music or doing anything that involves making noise, it's generally not as early as 9am, but just now in fact I was having a gentle strum and he banged on my wall asking me to keep it down, the other day I was playing at about 3 am, very very gently finger picking, I could only just hear it and he banged on my wall etc.
If it's not evident the problem is I want to play my guitar or play music in the morning, I put up with his noise and I expect him to put up with mine.
I can't tell if I am just being a prick, but I feel I can justify any comments you guys have, anyway anybody got any advice?
O yeh, talking to him won't work so not much point suggesting it

when you're sharing with someone, the advice here is for both of you to sit down and air your grievances and work out a solution. rarely do things get resolved by tip-toeing around the issues.
same principal to make a marriage work too btw because no matter how much you might love your partner, living in the same space all the time has these same issues
btw, it might be that the solution is that one of you will have to find somewhere else to live, but thats the reality of it.

I wish I could afford to move out today, I really do, if you saw what a nice house I live in you would also be lost for words on how it's treated and what a state is is in because of the people I live with, I would post pictures but would be too embarrassed.

He sounds like the type that just won't listen if you attempt to bring the problem up in polite conversation. He sounds like he'd get fired up and start yelling at you, which ain't the best type of polite conversation!
What you could try is to keep doing as you do, keep playing the guitar in the morning as you would. When he tells you to be quiet, just ignore him and continue. He will either live with it, or he'll confront you. My guess is he'll do the latter. When he does, and tries to explain he's trying to sleep, that's when you yell at him, saying what you said in your first post here. Tell him that he keeps you awake at night being noisy til the early hours, and if he'd just sleep at a decent time like a normal person, there'd be no problem!
Honestly mate, it doesn't sound like it's you being a prick. He sounds like an asshole, and you need to bring an end to it somehow. This way of doing it should be a last ditch attempt though. You should try to avoid such a confrontation if its possible to do so while still fixing things up!

lol, actually I do have a gig amp in my room, and an electric am really tempted to do that just for a giggle or get a few mates round and have a jamming session lol.
I think il just continue till he tells me to shut up then il play a bit longer then at night il bang on his wall lol
Other thing may periodically make very loud noises at like 7am, if I can manage to get up that early lol
