> K800i joystick problem?
Bookmark topic
hi to all, i am very keen on getting the K800i camera phone as its with optus and only $299 with free genuine SE bluetooth headset. the thing im worried most about is the joystick> is it just a problem with the first batch of K800i (most compain i read about dates from late 2006 till early 2007)? the reason im asking this is because both of my friends who have the k800i have a large amount of dust, dirt, grime on their joystick and it continues to work...(one of them had the phone for almost a year and the other since november of last year) i even heard stories of it going through the wash and surviving. [ what a tank] and also how long does the warrenty last on the phone?

its pretty easy to take apart the keypad... just get a plastic pick of some sort, then go to the plastic above the joystick and lift it out
i tend to clean mine every 2 months to keep it clean ( and to keep dust out of the cell phone in general )

My solution is (either ethyl or isoprophyl) alcohol... and use cotton buds(the one used for cleaning the ears) for swiping the mechanical portion of the joystick and try rounding off(circular) your joystick for 30secs. i used it with my 4 joystick enabled phones i.e. K750, W800, K700, K300 and they all are stable. (in fact they aren't even sent to shops for joystick replacement!

so there's nothing against this phone other than the joystick prblem which can be easily fixed through cleaning? if that so the joystick problem is just a nuisant just like dust getting under the screen....

well its not really a nuisance just on this model, ive owned 3 different SE phones and they all pretty much have the same nuincances with joystick/dust
the easiest solution to a "unresponsive" joypad direction is to recenter the joystick
if your joystick down direction is unresponsive what you do is move the joystick down.. but much more vigorously then what you normally would..
what this does is recenter the joystick further down and it solves the insensitivity problem
