Well, the other topic was locked but I just have to say my piece.
I had some expectations from Mr. Komiyama but unfortunately the six answers we got did absolutely nothing to soothe my anger over the P990 or gain back any confidence in SE.
Same as a lot of other users, I still have that feeling of being
scr@wed by SE over the P990 and nothing SE has done or said have done anything to correct this.
Apparently some of the questions were forwarded to the appropriate divisions for an answer. Now let me get this right, is it the same guy who claimed the P990 had "no problems" before the public uproar that forced SE to come up with a final fw upgrade that is going to answer the questions about the P990? Thanks, I don't need to hear that answer.
I've been an SE smartphone user since he P800 but they've finally lost me.
So, once more, what do we have? A sw company that cares only what its licensees say (UIQ) and the licensee (SE) that doesn't care what its customers say. Well, I'm not somewhere in the loop there so someone want to remind me as to why I should be using SE products?

I requested the other thread closed, and I think this should be closed as well.
You all knew that the 64 MB of RAM on the P990 was limited, so saying that it's SE's fault for not being a great multitasker is stupid imo. You should have opened your eyes before buying it.
I agree that the OS wasn't very good in the beginning, but they have released several updates after that so it finally ended up being a stable system.
Saying that they need to exchange all the current P990s with P1s is plain stupid as well. And also saying that you want more firmware updates on such an old device isn't very well thought either.
I have decided NOT to pass on the answers of the rest of the questions when I get them.

Spoken like a true SE rep!
Where did you get the notion that I want a P1 replacement for my P990? I had that choice and I declined when I had my 3rd P990 replacement...
I don't care about running n.teen applications simultaneously, I just want them to run properly one at a time. I don't really have a memory problem with P990, I'm pissed at the treatment SE sees fit for their customers.
Go ahead, have this topic locked as well, see if I care.
I'm done with SE (and all those I influence will be done with SE too).
Naturally, there will always be those mentally deficient blind followers, so SE's demise will not be quick, but nevertheless it will come with this mentality.

...so...we are stupid for expecting the device to work as advartised ? Interesting, I must say ... Are you a SE employee by any chance, Mizzle ?
This message was posted from a WAP device
After more then ten years of using Sony/SE phones, I am thinking of alternatives...not because of P990 performance, but because I don't like being treated like an idiot by SE.

OK, let's go over this in detail:

Why? Don't like what's being said? Too bad, rule of physics "every action has a reaction".
You all knew that the 64 MB of RAM on the P990 was limited, so saying that it's SE's fault for not being a great multitasker is stupid imo. You should have opened your eyes before buying it.
And do you really think what you have written makes sense? This can only be interpreted as "you shouldn't have trusted what SE said when they published the P990 specs".
I agree that the OS wasn't very good in the beginning, but they have released several updates after that so it finally ended up being a stable system.
True, but it took one year before I was able to answer incoming calls without worrying that the P990 may just "restart to improve performance". The P990 was pretty useless and unreliable before R5. I can understand fw updates and bug fixes but answering a call is the main function of a phone, I would expect that to work properly before a device is allowed to the market.
Saying that they need to exchange all the current P990s with P1s is plain stupid as well. And also saying that you want more firmware updates on such an old device isn't very well thought either.
I never said I wanted a P1 in place of the P990, it would be illogical to get an inferior device (even though it has more RAM). As for your comment "such an old device", this really boosts my confidence in SE! Just how long is SE's time frame to support their devices? We are not talking about cheap throw aways, these are expensive devices and I do expect full support during its life cycle. After all, Nokia does it, why not SE?
I have decided NOT to pass on the answers of the rest of the questions when I get them.
Congratulations on upholding SE policy...

@Mizzle
I'm truly disappointed with your answer. Pls edit the statement where you said you won't pass on the answer to the remainder of the questions. They are valid questions coming from real people who have been avid SE customers. How can you say we should've known P990 was crap just by looking at the 64mb RAM? P910 was running on 32mb and it worked fine, so naturally one would assume that 64mb would be an upgrade. And please realize that we had so much faith in SE that we actually thought:
1) They'd be able to rectify the memory problem sooner or later
2) They won't quit on the device before the problem is addressed, at the very least until it's lifecycle was over
3) At least get an apology (but instead total deniability)
How can you expect us P990 owners to just swallow it like a 'good customer' and forget this ever happened, say ah, well and keep purchasing SE goods without getting the due respect we deserve?

It's been exactly 3 years since I last bought a new phone, I still use my trusty p910i and my t610 along with my Ericsson r320s.
Reason being the "we don't give a damn about you and your hard earned cash" SE attitude-the one you are exhibiting Mizzle!
I agree completely with makbil, we pay premium money for devices that should work and the fiasco that was p990i. You say you won't post those answers, well it doesn't bother me cause they are going to be the same cliched answers.
Until SE respects and values its customers the competition is going to win over the disgruntled former SE fans.
Why do you persist in defending the indefensible?

Mizzle must have spoken in haste and might now be thinking so as well. His thinking that the P990 is an old device goes to show that he does not truly understand the gist of the frustrations with

That is,that

fans feel betrayed and used ever since the p990 and continue to feel so. I have switched from

to Samsung and I am going to go to Nokia in a month or two.
I come from the t637,to the p900,to the p910i to the p990i.

is neglecting the basics and although they have some great peripherals. Their phones are now coming out all half baked.Come on,at least get the P's straight once and for all and better compete with Nokia N's.

Maybe SE should've done the same thing of 'opening up their eyes' before making up the spec sheet of this retarded crap !!
Mizzle...you're completely "unconvincing", SE failed to give us anything from this retarded device, and you're still defending it...IT DOESN'T EVEN RECIEVE CALLS PROPERLY FOR GOD'S SAKE !!
This is a complete joke...
I replaced it with a W580i and i must say, it helped me maintain the image i ONCE HAD for SE (slightly)..
