> Please help, very worried about my P1i
Bookmark topic
Hi,
There have been a few strange things going on with my P1, and I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar problems.
A normal days usage for me is about 20 texts, about 20 mins of calls and my WLAN left on all the time. With this, my phone battery normally lasts 2 to 3 days.
Yesterday I went to the cinema. I left the house with 92 percent of battery. 2 hours later half way through the film I checked my phone and the battery was at 18 percent! i checked to see if I had called anyone or accidently gone on the internet, but nothing. In fact, my phone was still locked when I took it out. I hadnt even made any calls or sent any texts at this point. another hour later and the film had finished. I checked my phone again, and it was off. The battery was completely drained.
This morning, touch wood, it seems to be back to its old self, but it is worrying.
Another problem. This morning I get a text, but it only comes up with the number. So i open the text and it's from my sister. it even has her name at the top of the open text, but not when I'm looking in the inbox. I clicked reply, and it seems to have worked ok. I thought I would test something and sent myself a text to see if it worked. I have myself in my phone as a business card, but just typed the number in the TO box instead of selecting in the contacts. however, and this is the same for any contact that is already in my phonebook, after clicking done to go onto the body of the text, it comes up with Access Denied.
Ive tried turning my phone off, taking the battery out, taking the sim out, etc. Nothing.
Please, any advice anyone?

The battery drain might come from moving around. If you travel, you change coverage area and if it's a problem with the signal, then your consumption rises. The number problem usually happens when you have the number twice in your agenda, pro'ly with 2 diff'rent names.

I had something similar with my 1st P1. It went almost dead by 10am after ony taking of an all night charge at 7am.
Could be a faulty battery.

It could be bad net- coverage as well - I've noticed that before. Things work fine when it's just average to bad cover. But if you drop in and out of range, the phone apparently starts to work a bit hard to stay connected, and the battery drains really fast.. (.. And that could be similar to what happens if you're in a cinema or a building with some network scrambler that almost blanks out your signal, maybe..)
..The other thing - it's something a lot of people seem to have. Can you write down your cda, version, and so on - and whether you have the contacts on the sim, or on the phone, both, if you're running another app on the phone using the contacts database, if you're using outlook sync, etc..?

Im sure that it has to do with net coverage. whenever i go to the movies i barely have a signal inside. So the phone would constantly be searching for a signal thus the drain, especially wifi.

Was the camera app in the background? I found that sometimes (though rarely, of unknown cause) it is the culprit that causes severe battery drain on my P990 so I always kill it off after using it. I wouldn't be surprised if this bug is still in P1
As for your contact displaying as number, it happened to me before and for my case it was a system conflict whereby I already have the contact's name and number saved in my phone and I accidentally saved the contact redundantly not by its name but by its number. The contact appeared before the letter "A" in the contacts list as it is in phone digits, and that's probably why the number rather than the name came up when your sister called
They're just my guess, hope it helps

Hi,
Thanks for the replies everyone.
First of all, my CDA is 162022/9 R6F38 and my phone is R9J005.
With regard to the camera, there were no open applications in the background, as I always end all when I'm done with the current task.
I'm pretty sure that it wasn't due to the network, as I always get a full signal when I'm in there, it sometimes drops by one bar at the most.
My WLAN now seems to be disconnecting after every few seconds. Something very odd is happening with my phone!

Yes, constant wifi scanning can really drain your battery dry in a short time.

I also experienced these slow-charging or high-drain incidents. There were times when I'd leave my phone charging overnight. When I woke up in the morning, the battery barely got past 60% starting from say 25% last night. I also noticed that, during such events,
the back cover where the battery was located felt unusually warmer. It's like something was actively running down the battery, such that the charging could hardly replenish the battery supply. What I did was to restart the phone and recharge the battery, then all was fine again.
