thought i would get the firmware updated on my p1 today. having only recently installed windows vista i have been onto SE and downloaded the latest pc suite and SEUS. installed both of these. oc suite is working fine. got a backup done no probs.

went to load SEUS, standard questions about firewall allowing access to the internet. anyway, after a couple of seconds i get the white box with sony ericsson and symbol in it. this then does the trippy colour whirly bit, and just keeps replaying through that.

i cannot close it at all, it isnt listed as actually running in task manager. the only way to rid of it is by restarting the computer.

so, i have uninstalled and tried again. same problem. so i tried an older version, again i have the same problem. thought bugger this, went and installed it on my dads xp machine. it is still having the same problem.

is there any way i can fix this, or an alternative method by which i could update the firmware on my handset.

To kill it try this - i find that SEUS is quite buggy and when that happens to me, i just hit ctrl+alt+del and kill the ma3platform.exe process or the update.exe process.
Had exactly the same problem with mine, I updated my phone using XS++ instead! It is quite a hairy process involving lots of bits - perhaps someone knows a website that gives you a step by step process. Try this for starters - http://www.topsony.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6671

Oh, yeah, the SEUS whirly thingy did stay for a few minutes one time.. but it went away ..and SEUS started.
BTW, I love that whirly animation!

has anybody managed to sucessfully use SEUS today?

tried again, this time i got the little download box, 100%, that disappeared, and now i just have SE whirly pattern again.
