hey i have a k790i that i bought unlocked from ebay. recently it has been freezing alot. about 10 times a day. also it would randomly vibrate and blink
i have firmware R1CB001. my phone happens to be a prototype. i need a firmware upgrade. i found a site called GSM libberty that has k790 firmware i called and they said it wouldnt work
does anyone have firmware for the k790i that will help and get rid of all the freezing!

First thing - do NOT try to do an EROM upgrade/update even though it is offered on a number of sites for free - it'll brick your phone. Since it's a prototype it has what is known as a BROWN cert. Best bet would be to get it flashed via SETool, but this is an actual hardware piece that costs about $150-$200 or find someone who has one. Do NOT try to get anything done through Wotan Server - that's who bricked my phone - if my sig shows up you can read about it.

I actually sent my phone off to get it flashed because non of the tools that are readily available are able to do much for a BROWN/prototype phone (at least not a DB2020 one). I was also told that the DCU-60 cable which these phones come with won't be able to do much - you'd need a 4-in-1 cable to use with utilities such as SETool even if someone does it remote. Is your phone functional otherwise? My recommendation is - do NOT remove the battery during a crash/reboot - that's how I bricked mine the first time around.

(http://www.gsmliberty.net/shop/sony-ericsson-cruiser-cable-p-1235.html)because the guy on the phone said it the DCU-60 wouldn't work and i realized that after when i did everything to start the flashing it didn't work. and the firmware im going to upgrade to is dated 5-30-07 R1kg001_red 52. there are other firmwares there but there earlier dates. im not sure if you want me to tell you those firmware upgrades but if you want i can and you can tell me what one to flash to. im waiting for the cruiser cable to come than im going to flash it.
now let me ask you something
when it says to take the battery out and than put it back in and press C than put the cable in
do you press C than let go of it and put the cable in
or do you press C put the cable in and keep holding C
the phone works and turns on and all that
but it freezes so much it isn't even funny. and i love the phone so id hate to see it sit in my room and me using another phone.
would you recommend me flashing it with that thing i bought from GSMliberty
the program its using is called Total Multisurver 2.5. im really afraid of the bricking the whole phone
but i think if i do what the thing says nothing will go wrong
