I like to use a program called Anvil Studio. This is available from www.downloads.com and is freeware.

When using it find the place you want the tone to start and go
FILE > TURNICATE SONG > FROM START TO HERE

To delete everything after the end of what you want. Leave the marker at the end and go to TURNICATE SONG and select the option to delete anything afterwards.

Then all you do is save the song Save As (this way you can keep the original incase you mess up the short version you can do it again).

Good Luck

do you know a tip to reduce the final size? If i take 30 sec from a midi files of 4 minutes, I don't have a size /8

but your program works perfectly
How can I publish a tone? I have a ftp, but did he have to support wml, or is it possible to do like a ftp browser files?

The only way I reduce final file size is delete tracks that don't make too much of a difference on the songs. I usually limit the time of the tone to 30 seconds or lower so its not too big.

I publish my files to the space AOL gave me. If you are making a site to share with others then you can host the WML at a site such as tagtag.com and link to the MIDI files at other space.

If you just want them for your own use. Type the full address of the song into "Enter Address" such as http://members.aol.com/catty2phatty/hotinhere.mid

It should download then.

If you have anymore questions just email me at Catty2Phatty@aol.com
I check my email more often than I visit Esato.
