Hi everyone.need some advice.
i have two contracts with orange. for example a + b.
"a" i've had for a long time. this number i want to keep. contract expired a few days ago.
"b" i aquired recently from a friend and transferred onto my name. very very good deal. i have 6 months on contract to run.
dilemma i want to keep the number linked to "a" (because i am self employed and have used this number a long time.if i change no i will lose business) but i want the contract linked to "b" ( as it is a very very good deal).
i have been told i can do following.
ask orange for a pac code for "a". then leave them for any payg provider eg virgin transferring my number. wait for a month then ask virgin for a pac code and then transfer this number "a" back to orange onto the contract "b".
sorry seems longwinded. hope u understand. is it possible to do this? thanks in advance for any help/advice.much appreciated.

An interesting problem and one that I'm afraid I don't know the official answer to.
However, I would suggest, that perhaps the official answer is somewhat irrelevent. I say this because of the high probility that something will go wrong, even if it is confirmed to you that it is possible.
The bottom line is that nowdays, the faceless and by and large undertrained Orange operators in their anonymous call centres will not have a hope in a million of sorting out a problem should ti occur.
If the business number is important and you will lose revenue without it, then I wouldn't risk what you are suggesting.
-Perhaps you could lose the busines number in a month or so, having turned it off and left a recorded message for all your customers, citing your new number?

Would you be able to change to the tariff that sim B is on on your sim A main business number? i.e. move onto that preferred tariff on your business number?

maybe? i was thinking that after i had posted.
but they wont just transfer "b" tariff to "a" as b has 6 mnths to go plus they want me to keep both sims as they make more money out of me. mayb i could do following : ask for pac code for sim a. they think i'm leaving and make me a good offer. i ask them to match sim b which in theory they do. so then i get to keep sim a with the right no AND tarriff. however i still have to keep sim b for 6mnths then cancel it. however this is all theory as they may not match the tarriff i have got with "b". i have been with them a long time and every year i do get a better deal out of them but whether they match tarriff "b" i dont know. your ideas are appreciated

thanks.points noted. however say i only had "b" with orange. i also had a payg sim with another provider eg virgin. then i get a pac code from virgin. can i then transfer that virgin payg no onto this orange contrat "b". if yes then is that not what i am doing above in my original post. (because if i port "a" from orange to say virgin payg then as far as orange are concerned i only have "b" with them).

No, what I mean is swap what tariff A is on to the same tariff as what B is on - then just cancel B when it's time runs out or do whatever you want with it.

I'd be surprised if Orange won't let you switch to a different tariff, just threaten to leave them and that might make them change their mind!

if u r saying simply ask them to swap tarrif b to a and vice versa they wont let me do that.
if u r saying ask them to give me a better tarriff on "a" ie something equal to what i am getting on "b" then i could try that. normal customer services wont. i could try the retention dept and like u said i could threaten to leave. mayb then they might match "b".thanks

Orange will transfer number a to number b if you ask/tell them to...

They did it for me..

Ask them to email number management to see if they will do it..

you will prolly find it'll happen fairly instantly...

if they won't do it, Virgin mobile indeed.. you can port in, and port straight back out again, no waiting needed....

but bug Orange they can and will do it!
