Heres my dilemma, Ive had my se for about 3 weeks im currently on the vodafone network in this little country called New Zealand. I have an email account with boltblue over in pommy land that i want to use from my T68i. So far this is what i have entered,

connect using:GPRS WAP
protocol:pop3
inc server:pop3.boltblue.com
incoming port:110
mailbox:justsmokeninNz
password:xxxx
outgoing server:smtp.boltblue.com
outgoing port:25
email address:justsmokeninNz@boltblue.com

That is the content currently in my phone when i go into send and receive it says finding server then after about a min it says server not found. Now is it possible to use bolt blue as my email or should i get another email account. Any help would be appreciated greatly plese dont give me to much shit as this is my first post so be gentle ...

Welcome to Esato. You should try to make a separate data-account to connect your e-mail client. The account must be GPRS-DATA not GPRS-WAP. The other settings you must check with your e-mail provider or network. Good luck...

You need to connect with a GPRS Internet profile.

And because of SMTP authentication, you'll need to replace the outgoing server address with the IP address of Vodafone's outgoing SMTP server.

I hope that helps.

This is from boltblue support

Many thanks for your email. We do not officially provide support for
the configuration of GPRS enable phone or any other type of mobile
phones.

Our smtp server does not accept third party IP addresses, which a
mobile network operator would provide using a GPRS connection.

You would need to be dialled in through the boltblue number in order to
send emails.

Alternatively, if your mobile network operator have a mail transfer
agent address that would allow you to send mails, input this address as
your smtp server.

As well as the above comments, I recommend you use IP addresses instead of host names for the incoming and outgoing servers.

hi justsmokeninNz,

Welcome to Esato, I used to live in the Kiwi Country as well, but now has moved to Melboure/Oz. I left there 3 years ago. Vodafone is the only major player in Digital GSM network.

To have Email working with GPRS connection, you probably have to have a separate Data Account for this sole purpose, though u already have one for the Wap purpose.

And you choose that Data Account when configure your Email account at the "Connect Using" setting. You might have to find out the APN for the new Data account from Vodafone. They might give u an IP address, or a host name (my provider's is "INTERNET") OR they might just use the one same as the WAP's one.

Cheers,
Bear
