> Unlock code from O2
Bookmark topic
I recently bought a Nokia 6300 on O2 Pay and Go but have been a customer for 9 months now and spent alot of money. Now i want to use another sim card in it but its locked. Question is when i called up O2 they refused to give me the unlock code despite being a good customer. Anyway i dont want to unlock it in a shop cos they open up these type of phones and whenever they put them back together all manner of dust and crap gets inside the screen. It happened before but what i want to ask anyone is am i withing my rights to get the code from O2 cos i have been with them for 9 months or are they right in refusing. Its very annoying. Anyone know thanks.

I'd check first just to make sure it is locked, I've had a few PAYG O2 phones that have been unlocked. I thought that a network couldn't refuse to unlock a handset even if they charge for it. Good luck.

Yes it is locked as i put a Vodafone sim in it. Going to try again and threaten to leave. Why they have to be so fickle is beyond me other networks like you say Vodafone and Virgin give you the codes. They told me you gotta be with O2 for 12 months but surely they made enough money from me now to give me that. B***ards!

6300 can be unlocked without dismantling I am sure. However do not take the mobile phone shop owners word on that, since they will tell you anything to get your business, they will probably use a server to unlock it and it will cost you £25-30 I think.

I'd try O2 customer services and tell them your leaving the UK for a while and need the phone whilst abroad, try and work out how much you've spent with them over the 9 months, the supplied a code for my daughter when she went to South Africa. Hope this helps.

02 wont give you the code unless you pay,
when I was with them yes a customer of 8 years they wouldn't give me a code to my Samsung D900i either,
Suprised vodafone do tho,
but ive had probs with myphone so I exspect thats why they gave me the code to have it unlocked btw

Its a pain in the ass. I wish i had gone to Carphone now to buy this phone or Vodafone as im thinking of moving my number over. Lots of reasons why im moving nothing wrong with O2 they been the best but its now going to cost me more money to get this unlocked or trade this in and get a Vodafone handset. I dont want to unlock this phone if its gotta be opened up they wreck the phones when they do it. Tut. Good morning Miss UK.
