you will need a bluetooth GPS receiver
I use a Holux unit and am running both Tomtom & GarminXT on my UIQ3

I've been trying for the last two months. I can get the application to work but it won't find any of my maps!

@hiddensphinx
Can you compare the two ?
Which one do you find faster and better looking ?
Thank you !

Both TomTom (V.6) and Garmin Mobile XT can run on P990, meaning it should work on all UIQ3 phones. As to which one is better probably depends on the maps for your particular location. I prefer Garmin as the maps are more current than TomTom (for Istanbul).
As far as functionality goes, they are more or less the same. Garmin does have a few tricks up on TomTom such as sending/receiving data over to another Garmin user.

@makbil
Can I dream of runing Contacts and Messaging app at the same time with Garmin or TomTom runing ? ( oh, I can't help feeling pathetic asking this kind of question, but this piece of s...t (P990) killed Opera Mini just so it could open dictionary viewer

)

@theos, not all three at the same time...naturally, for P990
Garmin does call the built-in contacts on demand so they do work together. Garmin+messaging is a close call, it may work or may just shut down Garmin. It all depends on how recently the P990 was restarted.
Garmin manages to run pretty good with the RAM restriction of P990, I have probably had only one Garmin shut down due to insufficient memory, that was while I was playing around with it. Under normal use, you can answer or call someone, recalculate route, at the same time record a track without problems.
TomTom memory usage is pretty much the same - meaning not much is left for other applications.
You should think of exclusive use of the navigation program, with the ability to make and receive calls only and not much else (for P990).
