This is specially for those who still think the K850 R1E's red color is really off. The fact is, it sometimes is off, but not so far from the original color.

To prove it, I took several shots of my Color Index book (by Jim Krause).

I cropped the pics, then add small color palettes with CS2 before its color. The color palette is as guided from/represents the CMYK combination code written in the book. The code is also captured for some proofs - in case some of you think I manipulated the code.

Conclusion: R1E comes with a better RED color reproduction. Even if it sometimes is "off", the red color still quite represent the original color of the object, meaning doesn't differ much from the original one.

If you happen to see purplish color in the reds, I think you really should calibrate your monitor.

Or it's more practical to buy some color index book, then match the color of the monitor so it comes close to the colors in the color index book.

*R1C was using the -0.3 EV step cause when I use the normal EV or higher, the colors became much, much paler.
*R1E was using the +0.3 EV step cause the saturation seemed too high in normal EV (the colors become too dark).
*The different saturation control between those two is considered due to the firmwares.

I see that you're someone who takes colors very seriously.

Excellent way of showing color reproduction by the K850i and it's clear that SE did a good job improving from R1C to R1E.

Thank you. I have heavy interest on digital design anyway so color is important though sometimes it becomes very relative so you can't determine which colors are the best ones.

Anyway.. I wanna re-make the review anyway cause the R1C should've done better (though it apparently didn't).

I also did notice the colour difference since I upgraded my firmware and took the picture of that RED flower which I posted in photo section ^^

hmm.. for what i've experienced, R1E still needs some more improvements with "red" lookie here..

this was a shot taken from my k850i.. Macro Shot, Indoor-medium light, White balance-Fluorescent. No PhotoFix/PhotoDJ was done with this (obviously)

This one was shot with my k800 running k810 firmware (original camera driver). Same settings.. Marco, Indoor-medium light,White Balance-Fluorescent, no PhotoFix/PhotoDJ what so ever..

having to notice the difference, it disappoints me on how k850 performed, but still im keeping it positive that SE will release a new and better firmware to fix this issue...

cheers!

K850i definately has a red problem right now, too many pics on this forum that show it.
I cant see that the camera will be all that was promised until modders work on it.

One problem K850 has and it's obvious on those pics, is exposure. try to take that pic with EV-0.3, you will get better colors.

But it's better now. with some color correction in camdriver it'll be like K800.
