One of my friends got a p1i today. I was holding both hers and mine and hers is ever so slightly heavier.
I've had my p1i for the good part of a year now. Is there a difference between old and new P1i units? the weight difference was deffinitely noticed by her and our friends as well.

maybe it was the so called plastic p1's that someone on the forums was talking about, where instead of the front being aluminium it was actually made of a plastic material?!?

I didn't check the battery. Didn't think of it at the time

As for the materials used, hers and mine seemed exactly the same in every way as far as I could see. The specular nature seemed exactly the same

Yeah, do that.

Can't think of any hardware revision that could cause a noticeable difference in the weight..

checked. Exact same battery as mine.
The only real difference i noticed was she had a 2gb memory card vs my 1gb but to think that would shift weight is just absurd.

This is quite odd. If there's been a hardware revision I want to know what I'm missing out on.

Maybe they're using lead instead of aluminium now.

I'll try the battery removal thing later. I verified the battery type over the phone. same model number and design.

SE webpage http://www.sonyericsson.com/c[....]ctsandfeatures/p1i?cc=gb&lc=en says 124g

I weighed mine on kitchen digital scales showed up at 129g inc mem stick & SIM card - I am pretty sure mine is aluminium metal on the front casing...

Anyone else for a weigh-in?
