i have had my gd87 about a month now and when i compare it to my girlfriend's t68i i think panasonic dont think so much about designing their phones as SE. 3 major things annoy me about this phone:
1. IR transfer is useless... why dont they just leave IR open to accept files like a t68i does rather than having to receive file over and over?? it rarely works sending/receiving files and crashes my computer most of the time.
2. you cant add a voice memo to a mms... how stupid is this...
3. you can only have 128 characters for an mms!! t68i seems to have no limit, i mean come on you can send 20kb of pictures by mms but this phone will only allow 128b of text... again... how stupid...
anyone else find anything stupid in this phone? or anyone know if panasonic plan to release software updates?

The problem with irda is known and it is made on purpose for saving energy. I have no problem with mine. It works fine. Although, I admit it would be better to have an option leaving the Irda open as much as you want.
Of course you can put voice to your mms!!! Who told you the opposite? The phone is fully compattible with *.amr files.
The character limitation in mms is not really a problem. Actually they do it so because they want to have in an mms page the entire document without scrolling down to see the rest of it. All mms phones have this problem. When you write text more than a page and the mms auto-plays you cannot scroll down to see the rest of it. So you have to play it back manually and read the entire message. Thus, when the character limit is riched, you can add a new slide and continue with your message and so on. It is not really a problem.
Panasonic plans to release a new firmware upgrade. As far as I know it will be at end of February. I don't know what they are going to change.
Regards

I hope that they do have an update for our GD87 cause there is a couple of little things they could fix and make this great mobile one of the best, a copy one by one of sim to phone is very stupid too, and the use of amr files as ring tone could be so funny, siemens C55 tv add is base on that option and is difficult to find one on the shops right now here in Spain.

Yeah.... I really want to put amr files as ringtones.... We will see... You are right for the one-by-one copy... Gd87 faces difficulties in managing more than one data at a time.... For example if you want to delete lets say all the incoming mms you have to do it one by one, not all of them at the same time. The same thing is for sms and contacts. Perhaps someone from England who participates in English fora concerning GD87 could help us a little bit about the new things in the upcoming firmware.....

Sure it is easy for them.... I don't know though if they can hear us.... in my country at least the local dealer is watching our forum conversations and this might help. We will see... I will keep people informed, as soon as I learn something more "official"....
