I've got a branded k850i (Rogers) and I'm wondering how to set up video ringtones.. There are 2 short videos that come pre-installed on the phone which seem like they should be video ringtones but I cannot see them when i try to set my ringtone to a video ringtone. i've tried navigating to them through the file manager as well and cannot set them from there.

Is it because my phone is branded? Or is there some other specific format the clips must be in so that they can be used as video ringtones. I can't see why they would include the 2 short video clips for any other reason other than to be used as video ringtones.

The branded thing maybe the problem for your case but i'm not so sure. Ussually you can use almost any mp4 or 3gp for your video ringtones.... I think you should contact your phone provider for enlightment...

I'll try that... Does anybody have a video ringtone I could try just in case it's something wrong with the ones already on my phone?

I contacted my service provider.. they have no idea and told me to have the phone flashed at a local store.. I doubt it has to do with flashing though.. I think they've restricted it without knowing it and not told their reps in tech support.

Is anybody else here using video ringtones?

When you go to settings to set up a ringtone you will be presented with 2 options to set ringtone or videoringtone. If it has been disabled the second option for videoringtones will be not visable. hth

^^^^^ This isn't my problem.. I have the option of setting a video ringtone/tune but i cannot choose either of the video ringtones/tunes that come installed on the phone (magic night or green light). i was trying to find someone who could email me a video ringtone that they are actually using on their phone so i can see if it's something to do with the way the pre-installed videos are encoded..

By the way.. I tried to re-encode some videos using 3gp but they still aren't available to set as video ringtones/tunes.. even if i use the file manager and choose "set as" from the menu.

Soooo.. Is anybody using video ringtunes with their Rogers branded k850i? I am getting back my repaired unbranded k850i in about a week so I'll try the video ringtunes on that but it would be nice to know if they work on a branded phone or not.. the assclowns at Rogers have no idea.

I am. You are correct, they have no idea!

Had to unlock it (used Davinci) then flash it using CID52 1206-0882 Customized ID/Velvet Blue APAC-ANZ.

Rogers, locks everything down, so you can not use MP3, 3GP's, or AMR's as ringtones. I beleive you can use WAV's though.

Now mine is unlocked, I can use anything. Plus I got rid of all that customized Rogers crap they load on the phone.
