Bookmark topic
Just got mine!
It's a great phone!
BUT...
got me some "newbies" FAQs
1. Is it possible (how to) make P1 use the phone memory (not SIM card) for contacts ?!?
2. Previously owned K800i, so my trouble is How to transfer all my back up contacts to new P1i ?!?
Using MyPhoneExplorer 1.6.6 & official PC Suite for Sony Ericsson

yeah. It's a great phone, but..
1. you can move or copy the contacts to the phone in the contacts. You should as well - you can edit more fields, it's quicker, and so on. And you can backup the contacts to the mem- stick afterwards (standard vcard file).
2. if you have access to a sync- server of some kind (later horde- builds.. and some mail services have syncml points), you can use the remote sync application (and extend it with Swim from the bergamot project).
If you don't, you can register with zyb, or any of the similar semi- free services like that, and sync over the net. (By connecting the other phone with remote sync, and then doing the same on the p1 the other way.)

mark every single contact in your contact list, press more, and send them through bluetooth to your other phone... pretty easy

THANX guys
Appreciate it !!
You gave me a lot of newbie Help
now,
the story continues
1. What is the best format for (video) playing in P1!?
Using a SUPER © v2008.build.25 (Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer) but I only use it for "classic" 3GP !!!
Is there a "recommended" encoder for video files which can be played in P1 by default
2. What about 3rd party player for video files in P1i ?!
Links would be appreciated ...
RESPECT

Use "M3" for video encoding, it's free and has a custom P990/P1 setting.
You can search for it on Esato (the thread is at:
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=136929&start=450 )
Edit: Perhaps not a good idea, some of the updates to Windows XP have apparently messed up with that program, there are a lot of reports (confirmed on my PC) that M3 aborts at startup

It is correct ! M3 is bugy and not supported anymore , but
still, here's how I do it
remember I spoke about SUPER © Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer
so,
with latest version I got briliant video/audio quallity with this setup init
Re-encoding your video file
1. Open SUPER ©
2. Press MP4 in select the output container
3. Set Video Codec to mpeg4 and Audio codec to AAC
4. Select your video file (you can copy/paste)
5. Set Video Codec to mpeg4
6. Set Video Size to 320×240
7. leave Video Bit Rate to 1248 (frame rate is 25 pics per sec)
8. Set Audio Bit Rate to 96
9. Press Encode
10. Transfer the optimized video file to your Sony Ericsson P1i
other recommendations are WELCOMed

quoted "7. leave Video Bit Rate to 1248 (frame rate is 25 pics per sec) "
1248kbps? Impossible. Videos on P1i should be less than 700kbps to play smoothly.
