Hi All.
I have a K790a, a MacBook Pro with OS 10.4 (Panther) and have never had problems connecting the two. In particular I mainly navigate to Menu/File Manager/Camera Album to quickly 'push' a photo from the phone to my mac via bluetooth. Beautiful simplicity right? right.

Now I just got a new black MacBook (not pro) and the new OS 10.5 (Leopard), and tried to pair them. I can pair them alright but on my phone when I try to connect or 'push' a photo etc. It says, "searching..." "connection failure. retry?" and nothing more.

Yes, BT is on/discoverable on both devices. Yes they have been paired. Yes, the macbook shows up on my phone in its list of known devices. Here is the only difference I can find between the Macbook Pro and the new Macbook (both are listed in MyDevices on the phone).

If you go to Menu/Settings/Connectivitiy[tab]/Blueetooth/My Devices/ then select the old macbook pro (running 10.4) press right softkey ("MORE") choose "SERVICES" you see "Object Push"

awesome.... But.... back to that menu of devices, choose the new macbook (running leopard) and also choose More/Services and you see only:
"Audio Remote Control Target"

WTF? Why not object push there too? I tried "refresh" on the services menu. it does nothing. I looked in system prefs/bluetooth on the mac. opened the device there and it says:
Type: mobile phone
Services:
Dial-up Networking
HID Mouse & KB
OBEX File Transfer
OBEX Object Push
Paired: Yes
Connected: No

The big wacky thing is why my PHONE's 'services' is different for these two macs and why only on the old one which lists "object push" can I simply push photos via BT in one step to my mac, but can't under leopard.

PLEASE HELP! thanks in advance.

Tom.

Hi...

I haven't got a solution yet, but I do have the same issue.

Strange thing is, I had my Macbook Pro replaced in December '07 (having bought it in November '07) because of a faulty iSight, and I'm almost certain that my previous MBP accepted files 'pushed' from my phone (sony ericsson K810i)... but my new, replacement MBP doesn't.

Also, if I try to connect my phone to my mac, (settings> connectivity [tab]> bluetooth> my devices> [highlight my MBP] connect) ... my phone just shows the 'connecting' screen for a seemingly unlimited amount of time, until I 'cancel', and never actually seems to connect.

I can connect to my phone from my mac, but even once they're connected, I can't push files from my phone to my mac.

hmmm... anyone got any ideas/solutions? sorry I can't help!

Ali

Woohoo!! Sorted!!

I just found an answer on the Apple support forums that has fixed it for me!
It's really simple, but not in the least bit obvious...

In the System Preferences on your mac, in 'Sharing' (amongst the Internet & Network group), there is a "Bluetooth Sharing" tick-box at the bottom of the list, on the left hand side...

Tick it!!

(and make sure the "When receiving items" drop-down-menu on the right ISN'T set to "never allow")....

That's it!!

I can't believe that this option isn't located in the bluetooth preferences window!! Or at least, there should be a link to it! Seems to be a bit of an oversight by the developers of OSX I think!

Anyway, Hope it works for you too!
