High megapixel camera phone sales double in a year.
More than a third of mobile phones sold in January had at least a 3.2 megapixel camera. This has doubled from January last year, when 16.5% of phones sold had 3.2 megapixels and there weren’t any 5 megapixel handsets around. In January this year 5 megapixel phones made up 16% of all mobiles sold, while 17.9% of total all phones had 3.2 megapixel cameras.

Its not hard to imagine that 10MP cams might be commonplace in a couple of years.
I think they should start upping the video quality - that would be much more appreciated.

@Number1; its not a matter of stupidity at all, its about getting more functionality than what most 3.2MP camphones offer us - at least when it come s to SE.

Glad that more ppl are purchasing higher end camphones - the manufacturers have been vindicated.
I expect more usuage of Divx for recording to debut in other phones besides Samsungs.

No one really needs a cam with more than 3.2 megapixels. Mine has 5 (n95) but thats more down to the features of the phone than the camera.

has a good range of 3.2Mp camphones to choose from - P1i, W960i K810i, T650i, K770i, W890, plus more coming soon in C-series, G-series, and W980i which I am hanging out for. I'm glad 3.2Mp is now filtering down to the mid range!

There's no point pushing up megapixels without good optics and sensors. 3.2 is fine for me.
