Having read a review/preview of the upcoming release of the Nokia S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 on Mobile-review http://www.mobile-review.com/review/nokia-s60-fp2-full-en.shtml) , I am being swayed towards getting a Nokia running this as my next smartphone. I have been a loyal SE user for the last decade, having used phones like the GH388, the T series (T10, 18, 28 ,39 & 610), the P Series (P910, P990 and P1). I have been drawn towards SE due to their fresh, cutting edge designs (T610), innovativeness and stability. However, of late, the stability of their UIQ smartphones has been somewhat of an issue, and their designs are no longer that cutting edge or innovative. SE has been lagging behind in areas such as including GPS modules in their hardware, and navigation maps (Nokia Maps). Barely a handfull of SE models have resolutions above 3MP on their cameras while other manufacturers are far ahead (Need I mention the green tint on the P1?). Why did Samsung beat SE to Optical Zoom when Sony is major player in the digital camera arena? 16m colour screens are commonplace among other manufacturers now but where is SE? Now Nokia will be including FM transmitters in their handset hardware and who knows when SE will be doing that? The FM transmitter accessories are not even available in all parts of the world yet. Nokia's will still have their flaws, but the out of box package is going to be hard to beat!

I won't even go into P990 saga...

I certainly hope SE get their act together with the coming G-series and the Xperia because they may be well on their way to losing a customer to their bitter rivals.

And how exciting is the S60 Touch going to be? Videos on YouTube suggest something special!

Atleast I don't wanna convince you. You wanna go for S60 then go ahead. My next phone is P-Next no matter what.

As for Radio transmitter, the W980 has it and was announced a bit earlier than Nokia did.

@ BobaFett - I don't know which model I will go for, maybe the coming N96? Something high spec, high camera res, quality large screen, music features, GPS, basically a phone which SE refuse to give us! I would have loved a touchscreen but may have to forgo that for the moment. I am blown away by the N96 specs - check it out http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4835651

@ hgautam - the FM transmitter is but one of the features that Nokia will have in a wider range of phones. I'm sure SE will limit it to the higher end Walkman phones, which is cool, but for someone like me who wants to use their flagship phone which they then deliberately go thin on some of the features, it won't work for me!

@ QVGA - good move, waiting for more features. The current offering of feature pack 2 though for me is more than what I am getting from SE and if I am to chose, MORE is MORE for me!

@ Adz21 - well done! Does the N95-2 (I assume 8GB?) run the feature pack 2? Should be an interesting experience!

As much as I want to stay with SE, I have been asking myself why when I can get a somewhat better service elsewhere...

having been a huge supporter of sony ericsson and having converted all my friends to them. I decided to get a nokia n73 about 2 years ago. My main reason for this was that sony ericsson split there range. I wanted my phone to be as good as possible at as many things as possible. You just dont get this with sony ericsson. I now have the n95-2 and after5 months still love it and haven even thought about replacing it. The range of features and applications for the n95 is unbelievable. And has become my main form of entertainment even in the house. Being used for internet, audio books, ebooks, videos, gaming(ngage is really great well the trials on first access showed alot ofpromise) and messaging it really is great and i dont believe any of the current or recently announced s.e. Phones could replace it (xperia) comes close. So anyway i am sure you wont regret your decision and when you change let me know i will give you a website to find free applications etc

none of the current range of nokia phones have run feature pack 2 and are unlikely to. Although theoretically possible through firmware updates nokia will want customers to buy a new phone to get the benefits of feature pack 2. Although feature pack1 phones are good to use for phone savvy people i can see why nokia would want to make it easier for the average phone user especially after there prediction about the popularity of smart phones over the next few years rising
