Im not that clever when it comes to pcs but im good with most basic everyday things. My question is can you edit tracks from Windows Media Player to shorten a track. Reason i ask is i want to use just part of some songs as ring tones say like the best part of the song. Is this possible and how do i do it or if not is there some sort of software to do it. Thanks anyone.

If you mean Audio files such as Mp3 then this program might do the job:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/about/
Alternatively, you could convert them to .wav files using something like CDex and just use the built in windows sound recorder to crop them. Then use Cdex again to convert them back to MP3 although you will of course lose some sound quality through re-compressing

Nah, if you read the help files it's pretty easy
It's just like cropping a photograph in a photo editing app only you crop the visual representation of the song (the waveform). It'll make sense when you have a go!

Not that sound quality loss will be heard through a phone speaker as a ringtone!

If you have Nero, use Nero wave editor. Piece of cake.
