after released XPERIA X1, there's just a little question in my mind, why SE use Windows Mobile not UIQ? What the best for SE, UIQ or Windows Mobile?

Why not both ? Some people (like my husband) need a Windows Mobile device for their work.
He's been using HTC devices for many years now, and they serve him well,
but he could buy a SE next time then, when he wanted, it's nice to have a choice.

I use wm on my work devise too, I've always found it to be a good tool, but untidy and disjointed in some instances, I mush prefer symbian systems.

I prefer both UIQ excels on the multimedia side while WM excels for the business.

So would uiq be better suited as a WM interface app, in the vein of htc's 'touch flo'? That way we could have the best of both worlds......

Perhaps someone could write a 'symbian virtual machine' type api After all, there's an emulator already in the SDK isn't there?

It really depends on what you need. Most people feel intimidated by WM UI, and more comfortable with S60 or UIQ. The WM UI has a very "cold" un homely feel, its not hard to get used to.

Its all dependant on personal preferance and requirement.

Surely, but my point was that in the same way that one can replace 'explorer' on a windows PC, and that HTC made their smartphone specific interface for the Touch, then it's got to be more than possible to recreate a uiq or s60 style interface for a WM device, as both Symbian and WM work on a similar system of files, folders, and Settings.

In terms of the end user experience, it's simply a matter of how one interacts with those, ie. what buttons you press to get it to function in the way you wish. Also, if such a thing were done, the device would become infinitely more versatile in that the user could have both buisiness and personal modes of operation on the same device.

I use only WM , but I meant from the usualy completely end user point of view. And using stuff like Wisbar you can get your today screen to look like Symbian. But where the core OS is concerened WM is nowhere similar to Symbian, the kernel is completely different. TO get the menu system to replicate Symbian you'd need to write an app that resides on the current shell.

And regarding the Touch its basically just hype, the nice thing is touch flo that allows you to scroll with one finger but the cube etc.. are just apps not a UI replacement. But the add lots of tine apps as making th start menu larger etc that it makes you feel they;ve edited the Ui which they actually have'nt. Very clever .

Hi rikez
's developers are seemingly incapable of writing code that works, Their hardware testers are equally as hopeless at their primary task as the code monkeys and they seemingly have no bug reporting system for their findings.

And if there is as system in place, the code monkeys certainly don't know where it is!!!!!!

So to date have relied upon its body of unpaid customer testers.

It works like this, we pay good money for device, we find problem and complain to the network operators who sold us the "dream device" (who do actually have some clout) they moan at who finally tell code monkeys "it doesn't work" Code monkey grunts moans then grunts "OK I will take a look, but don't ask me to test it, that's boring"

It is no surprise to me that they decided to look at pre built options
