Hi - First post and I need help.

My K850i phone has broken the blue tooth on my BMW 3 series 3 times now. The bluetooth on the car just fails completely and they have to replace the whole unit.

The problem is that they are now telling me that if I try and par the phone again, and it breaks, then it will not be covered under the BMW warrenty...

Having done some digging it appears that I need to update the firmware (now done to version R1EC001) big question is - do I know risk it? Has anyone come across this before?

Can a Bluetooth phone really break another device?

It can screw the settings up a bit, but no, I don't think it can.
BTW, have you upgraded the firmware yet?

Well, it's BMW's fault, not SE's. The Bluetooth in K850 is working flawlessly with everything else.

Thanks for the response - Yes - I've just upgraded this evening. The issue with the BMW BT is that there is not a reset. Once it has corrupted it will no longer work and they have replace the hardware (as I'm led to beleave)

Anyone now any different?

Hi Mizzle - the update firmware does suggest that there are issues with the Bluetooth with Audi and Merc - but they don't mention BMW.

I use an MBW-100 and I couldnt get functionality unito 038. Even the SE carkits wouldnt work. Maybe your issue stems from here? Anyways, on 031 havent had a single issue with bluetooth since.

By the way, if it breaks again, cant you claim your BMW warranty from another garage? Anyways, they cant deny a replacement. Its a manufacturers fault on BMWs side that the Bluetooth receiver doesnt have a reset button. If you go to court you could end up with a few free BMWs!
