"Six hundred police officers seized more than 300 stolen mobile phones in a north London raid yesterday.

Officers also seized 120 laptops, 110 cameras, 32 iPods and 20 Sat Navs from Blackstock Road in Finsbury Park.

More than 70 people suspected of trading in drugs, stolen goods and fake passports were arrested.

The area is said to be a mobile phone crime hot spot, with up to 40 per cent of phones stolen in Britain sold on there."

when I read 600 police officers, I was reminded of "300", well I suppose the raid was just as amazing.

The raid probably cost more than the total amount of goods seized!

Hi all

Whilst it may seem like overkill that was the number needed to enable simultaneous raids and to seal off the area to stop people from escaping. If they had used less officers many would of escaped and also the Police may of faced stronger resistance or a riot.

I agree better safe than sorry and can't see why any would have a problem with the Police exercising caution as can imagine if a Police officer was seriously injured or killed everyone would well why didn't they use enough manpower if they knew how dangerous it could be.

The area in question really is a rough area and even with Otis by my side would exercise extreme caution walking there at night and even then only if i didn't have a choice and it was imperative.

@Nanu

OK so are you saying we should just ignore crime and let it flourish because it's not cosy effective? because i really don't think that's a good idea at all do you?
Marc
